Join us at Super Wonder Gallery on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, for Minz Fest – a special evening dedicated to celebrating the extraordinary artistic life and enduring legacy of the late Chris Minz, Toronto's own incomparable artist, filmmaker, and provocateur, known to many as The Evil Dr. Minz.
An institution in Toronto's art and music underground, Chris Minz left an indelible mark with his distinct blend of cartooning, animation, music, and filmmaking. From his satirical Keith Richards illustrations and the caffeine-fueled Subconscious Jungle book to his work with bands like Dr. Minz and the Chronic Harmonic and directing music videos for legends, Minz constantly pushed creative boundaries with a style influenced by the fearless visions of Lynch, Cronenberg, and Miyazaki.
Minz Fest invites friends, fans, collaborators, and the curious to come together in a space that frequently showcased his zany and brilliant work. This evening is dedicated to remembering the man, his unique persona ("Not Quite, 'In The Flesh!'"), and his prolific output, all imbued with his signature blend of the bizarre, the humorous, and the deeply imaginative.
The centrepiece of the evening will be the screening of Minz's final film, "The Rise & Fall of Dorian Y" at 7:00 PM sharp. Witness the culmination of his cinematic vision, likely echoing themes of art, morality, and transformation, delivered with the unmistakable Minz touch.
Following the screening, from 9:00 PM onwards, mix, mingle, share stories, and raise a glass (cash bar available) to a true Toronto original. Let's celebrate a life lived artistically, fearlessly, and always unapologetically. As Minz might say (perhaps from his custom ashtray?), don't miss this send-off!
